Author's Review
I got the Sims 2 PC game for Windows last year as a Christmas gift from my mother. We like games like this in our house so it was a great gift to have gotten. I was very exited to open it and get it going. It was fairly simple to install and run. I did not have any trouble with the Sims 2 PC game for Windows at all when I was setting it up.
To install the game:
First remove it from the plastic packaging and open the case. Simple enough right? Then put the disk in to your CD Rom. After that you can select how you want to install the game. It will ask you if you want to do a custom install your self, or basic install which is what every one does. I chose to do it there way which placed the game icon in my C drive and game me a Sims 2 icon on my desk top as a short cut to get to it. That was all I did for the install. You can even play memory games while it is installing. It takes 4 CDs to install by the way. You are asked when a new disk is needed. Just remove the one that is in the CD rom and put the next one that they are asking you for in. Simple as that!
What you can do in this game and how to play it:
The Sims 2 PC game for Windows is a spin off from the older version of the Sims. This one is far beyond what the old one was. The graphics are great right down to face details. The Sims now look like real people. It is a much better game to play. With the Sims 2 PC game you can do much more then you ever thought you could with a game like this.
You are now able to create your people to look more like your self. Use a program called Body Shop to make more realistic Sims and objects for the game. You can easily choose the Sim's quality, personality, gender, skin tone and so much more. This makes it a lot of fun. I would have to say our daughter who is 6 years old is the main player of this game, but we have all taken turns with it. And we all like it a lot.
Once you have made your Sim family or person. You place them in the house that you want, or on an empty lot that you can build a house for them on. The choices are great. The options are endless. The graphics are great like I said, even the dirt and grass look real.
To make a house:
You can choose to use the wall tool to build the walls up the way you want. You can build it on the ground or use a deck first. You can choose railings and stairs for your deck. Then you can add the roof and begin painting your house. There are plenty of paint tools and colors to choose from as well. You can choose from brick, siding, wood and much more. All that come in a variety of colors.
The same goes for the paint for the house in side. Many colors and patterns to choose from for that as well. Most of the paints have a matching floor tile, rug, carpet or other flooring that match it or can be matched by your own styles that you choose.
As for furniture and accessories, the list could go on and on. Couches, sofas, beds, cribs, changing tables, high chairs, lamps, ceiling lights, out door lights, street lamps, rugs, pictures for the walls, dressers, end tables, alarm clocks that really work, toys for the kids to learn and play with, book shelves, telescopes that your sims can learn and earn points from. Like I said the list could go on and on. You can fill your house with tons of stuff.
Your Sim will have to get a job to afford all the nice stuff though. There are bills to pay. The more stuff you have in your house the higher the bills get. Every few days you get mail in your mail box. This is your bills. You need to click the box and have your Sim get the mail, then click the bills in their hand and have them pay the bills. They will return tp the mail box with the bills in hand and mail them. As they do this you will see your total cash in the corner go down the price that you paid out.
To get your Sim a job you need to look in the news paper, or on the computer. You get more daily options on the computer. You can be a science professional, police officer, cook and more. Each job needs a certain amount of friends and a certain amount of skill points to get to the next level of your job and the higher pay level as well.
To gain skill points you can study from the book shelf, gain logic by using the chess table or telescope. You can gain points from a mirror, from watching TV and from cooking and so on. The first few points in each skill ae easy to get. The higher the points you have the longer it takes you to get the next one. This can be a challenge on top of trying to keep your Sim's stats up. But it is a lot of fun too.
You will need to make sure your Sims eat, use the bath room when they need to, get the right amount of sleep, be socialized as often as possible either by phone or in person. And you need to make sure they are happy as well. You do this by gaining aspiration points. Every time you fill one of your Sim's wants they get aspiration points. When they are in the white they are very high, green is normal and red is too low.
With Sims 2 PC game you also can fall in love, get a best friend, adopt a baby, have a baby of your own, adopt an older child. Send the child to school and so on. Your teen could be caught sneaking out or running away if you do not give them enough attention. But if they are treated well and you have them get a job and gain skill points they can be over achievers. Do not forget to have your child and teen Sims do home work. The social worker will visit if they don't do home work, and also if they are left alone, or going hungry! You can not get them back once they are gone!
The options are endless for play with this game. There is a lot to do and keep up with. This is not a game that we have gotten tired of at all. I even enjoy playing it when I get the chance. My wife and daughter have also liked playing it. More so then myself. But a lot of fun has come from it and I am glad that it was given to me.
Who is this game for:
This game is for the whole family really. The fact that you can make the Sims woohoo in bed means nothing. There is no nudity and no vulgarity. It is like playing with a doll house and taking it to a new level in doing so. I like the thrill of getting the job and taking them to the highest level of it. My daughter just likes to play mother hen to the kid Sims and babies, and my wife likes every thing about it. So our whole family has been able to have a good time with it. There is really nothing better to ask for in a game such as the Sims 2 PC game for Windows.
Requirements for the game:
If you have a computer, if you use Windows 98 and over and if you have the skill of opening up the box all by your self this is the game for you!
Last thoughts and recommendations:
The Sims 2 PC game for Windows is by far a great game to have. It is not so often that you can find some thing that pleases both the adults and kids in the household. We have been able to play on our own and also have been able to enjoy watching each other play. Our family highly recommends the Sims 2 PC game for Windows.
